Robyn Kunin sculpts every one of her ceramic art works by hand, creating exquisitely contoured artefacts with which to decorate the house and the body. Her works vary in shape, form and finish. From bright colours to muted tones, each glaze – like each piece – is unique. Watching Robyn work in her cosy studio at home in the Waitakere Ranges, it is apparent that this range is a labour of love: it is conceived in harmonious surrounds and possesses a harmony of composition itself. Whether adorned by delicate clay ponga, or bearing impressions from hand-embroidered lace and plants both wild and cultivated from around her home, each of these works is like a small tribute to the natural beauty of Aotearoa.
