Are you looking for a unique handmade gift that celebrates NZ's biodiversity? This adorable little felt Kakapo brooch will make a great gift for bird lovers of all ages. Carefully handcrafted each one by a local textile artist Hayley Meehan.

The intricate felt pieces are carefully hand cut from soft 100% wool felt sheets and hand stitched with love using high quality cotton/satin DMC threads. Birds are filled with new soft synthetic toy filling, finished with a backing pin.

Kakapo are nocturnal parrots found only in New Zealand. They're also world record breakers. Not only are they the heaviest species of parrot in the world but they are also the only flightless species.
