Are you looking for a unique handmade gift that celebrates NZ's biodiversity? This adorable little felt Ruru brooch will make a great gift for bird lovers of all ages. Carefully handcrafted each one by a local textile artist Hayley Meehan.

The intricate felt pieces are carefully hand cut from soft 100% wool felt sheets and hand stitched with love using high quality cotton/satin DMC threads. Birds are filled with new soft synthetic toy filling, finished with a backing pin.

Known as guardians of the forest, the ruru (or morepork) is New Zealand's only native owl. It's haunting call is iconic in NZ and is one of the most familiar sounds in our night forests.
