The Ginkgo Biloba tree is the last living species of the Ginkgoales which appeared 290 millions years ago. Fossils of the genus Ginkgo extend as far as 170 million years old. This tree is considered by many as a living fossil and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine since the 11th century.
